Twelve dreams of musicians, artists, and filmmakers, interpreted by FM Einheit (ex-EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN), with voices by: Lee Ranaldo (SONIC YOUTH), Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (PSYCHIC TV / THROBBING GRISTLE), Susan Stenger (BAND OF SUSANS), Émilie Pitoiset, Erika Stucky, and the Gulbenkian Choir; with guest musicians: Volker Kamp, Saskia von Klitzing, Robert Poss, and Susan Stenger.

Exhibition Of A Dream (L'exposition D'un Rêve) is formed of twelve dreams interpreted as songs. Exploded in time, these are played as temporary and evolving patterns of shapes and forms in an otherwise empty gallery following the drawings of mandalas. Exhibition Of A Dream highlights the complex beauty of how to generate a dream in the mind of the spectator. A shared experience to be lived within our own personal inner space, these remastered dreams are an invitation to listen to a sensitive architecture of words and music.

Created 2017, recorded both in public and in private in the amphitheatres and the garden of the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon, and in Einheit's own studio Steinschlag. The dreamers were: Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Lee Ranaldo, Émilie Pitoiset, Susan Stenger, Susie Green, David Link, Pierre Paulin, Alexandre Estrela, Tim Etchells, Gabriel Abrantes, FM Einheit, and Genesis Breyer P-Orridge.

Originally released as a 3LP set, and only ever available at the 2018 exhibition at the Foundation. Presented in a 6-panel matt-laminate double digipak.

"...every second of the album is carefully considered and thoroughly engaging. The musical twists and turns compliment the surreality of the dream state, throwing up all kinds of moods and colours and allowing them to morph organically in the way a dream might. Einheit‘s compositions portray the various sources with a lightness of touch and sense of playfulness throughout, never allowing things to get too dark or dense, but avoiding whimsy.... A collection of musical adventures that celebrates the subconscious, and the paths it can lead us down, the man they called Mufti provides a beautiful and mischievous soundtrack to the wild and free world of dreams, and like all good dreams it seems like time is irrelevant once you get into the depths of it. A fine album to stick on and lose yourself in" (The Sleeping Shaman)

"...a great deal to celebrate and inspire from the unconventional sounds and provocative narrative... it took me on a journey which provided an enlightening and enriching experience. Thoughts and dreams are exposed and analysed through the ongoing narrative which is set against a background of ethereal sounds with an often mesmerising quality... I experienced a whole series of emotions throughout this body of work. The sense of mood shift throughout is palpable as euphoria quickly shifts to a more meditative state with a deep sense of reflection... Exhibition Of A Dream, with its thought-provoking and sometimes disturbing narrative, is both a challenging and reflective piece which had the ability to dig deep into areas which I didn’t realise I had. Exhibition Of A Dream is most definitely a challenge worth accepting" (Louder Than War)

"...the scope of the album is made apparent in the first three tracks which range from tropical location recordings and jazz sequences through to shimmering guitars and abstract patterns filled with dreamy choir arrangements... Lee Ranaldo delivers his vivid prose daubed in twilight colours and populated by opulent landscapes over shimmering guitars and busy vibrant drum rhythms... Susan Stenger's [is an] unsettling dark dream of nightmarish proportions interspersed with stark, death, demon and delirious laden imagery... Genesis Breyer P-Orridge lays out an expansive tract vividly describing a dream reality, almost explaining the workings of the universe... all the contributors have created a deeply affecting piece of work in words and music. Vivid, varied and intoxicating; it's a remarkable album where dreams become shared experiences, additionally allowing the listener to generate their own mental images and interpretations" (Compulsion)

"The ease of Einheit wandering between melodic temperaments is impeccable, as one moment you find yourself poised in a serene soundscape – almost in a weird way akin to sound bites you could find on New Age self-help mobile apps – and the very next it can evoke trepidation. Perhaps the magnum opus of Exhibition Of A Dream rightfully belongs to Genesis P-Orridge Beyer, with a fifteen-minute journey “Creation Re/Created.” Given P-Orridge’s noted attempts to create “pandrogyne”, the storytelling aspect on this track feels notably introspective... Einheit’s soundtrack amalgamates with the listener’s curiosity of the dream. Some may argue that Einheit managed to create a singular entity with both his composition, the contents of the dream and the inflexions in P-Orridge’s voice. But that would in itself discredit the rest of the works on Exhibition Of A Dream, which accomplishes that amalgamation again, and again, and again" (8/10, Backseat Mafia)
